Cristina Trette is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in helping couples restore love. She works with couples facing some of the most painful and pivotal moments in their relationships, including infidelity, chronic distance, high conflict, and marriages on the brink of divorce. She also works with couples seeking guidance on how to strengthen communication and intimacy.
Drawing from Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), attachment theory, and relationship science, Cristina helps couples explore whats happening beneath the distance and disconnection, getting to the root cause of their distress. Her approach combines compassion and light heartedness, with direct guidance, helping partners repair emotional injuries, communicate more clearly, regulate intense emotions, and rebuild the trust and connection that have been lost.
In addition to her private practice, Cristina teaches Hold Me Tight® workshops, based on the work of Dr. Sue Johnson and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. These workshops give couples dedicated time away from the demands of everyday life to focus on their relationship, understand the patterns that keep them stuck, have meaningful conversations, and begin connecting in new ways.
Cristina is the founder of Integrative Couples Therapy in Encinitas, California. She has dedicated her career to helping couples and families move through difficulties with greater presence and intention. At the heart of her work is a hopeful but grounded belief that relationships can change, even after significant hurt or years of disconnection, when partners are willing to understand what has happened between them and engage in the work of repair.
Outside of her work, Cristina enjoys spending time with her life partner and their five children in Encinitas where they live. She feels most restored when she is with her family, near the ocean, running along the 101, or exploring nature.
