Hello. I am Cristina Trette, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the Founder of Integrative Couples Therapy. I specialize in helping couples heal, strengthen, and reconnect. My work is rooted in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and guided by trauma-informed principles, attachment theory, and a deep respect for the courage it takes to work on a relationship.
Couples come to me facing a wide range of dilemmas: long-standing conflict, emotional disconnection, loss of intimacy, communication breakdowns, and the strain of parenting. I also work with partners navigating the fallout of betrayal, the impact of addiction, or the frightening sense that their marriage is on the brink of divorce. I help them slow down, understand the patterns that drive conflict, and learn to communicate with clarity, openness, and honesty. As a marriage-friendly therapist, many couples find renewed hope and love when working with me.
I have a particular interest in working with high performers and business owners, trying to nurture a strong relationship and family life, while managing demanding careers. I understand these pressures firsthand. My life has included a ten year marriage, a divorce, and now a decade long partnership with my current partner, a former Navy SEAL and business owner. Together we have five children between us. This lived experience provides empathy on how challenging, and how possible, it is to build a meaningful, connected love life in the midst of busy, intense lives.
Beyond my clinical work, I care deeply about the therapist community. I have served on the Board of the San Diego Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy since 2017, and I am the Founder of Seremar Center, a local coworking and community hub for therapists. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in education and holistic health, experiences that continue to shape my integrative, whole-person approach.
When I am not with clients or running Integrative Couples Therapy and Seremar Center, you will find me outdoors running, hiking, relaxing at the beach, or spending time with my sweetheart and children. They remind me every day that connection, presence, and love are at the heart of a life well lived.
