You have options when it comes to therapy. Here is how our approach is different.

We Specialize in Couples, Relationships, and Families

Helping couples, individuals, and families heal and grow in relationships is at the heart of our practice and what we do every day. We are equipped to support both the common challenges of relationships, such as communication, connection, and intimacy, and the significant struggles that relationships sometimes face; including betrayal, escalated conflict, mental health struggles, concerning behaviors, or potential of divorce. We also keep your relationship with yourself in the center, so whether you attend therapy with your partner, on your own, or with your children, your most important relationships are held, healed, and strengthened in therapy.

We Are Holistic

While we specialize in relationships, we know that relational struggles often open the door to further healing. Sometimes what arises in session is anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodiversity, substance use, or a need for parenting support. With an integrative team, this provides the possibility of in-house therapy in the areas that you need, or referrals to trusted professionals in our community. As Marriage and Family Therapists, we emphasize a relational and family systems approach to mental health and wellbeing. In addition, we weave in tools that support mind/body healing, aiding you to flourish.

We Use Research-Based Methods

We are trained in attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), one of the most researched and effective approaches to relationship therapy. EFT gives us a clear map for helping couples, individuals, and families move out of disconnection and into trust, closeness, and connection. We continually train and engage in ongoing consultation to stay up to date with the current approaches in therapy.

We Are Relational

Although we engage in rigorous clinical training, we come to every session with a strong belief that relationships are the agents of change. We bring our full, human selves to the therapeutic process. Our therapists are warm, engaging and promote depth. At the same time we bring optimism, humor, and authenticity to the therapeutic relationship. You will not find cold and detached therapists at Integrative Couples Therapy. Our goal is for you to be understood and supported as you navigate the emotions and experiences that shape your relationships.

We Are Direct and Compassionate

Relationships can be complicated and it can be hard to see patterns when you are in them. It helps to have a guide who can highlight what they observe you saying and doing, that may create distance in relationships, and point the way forward. We will directly identify the cycles that keep you stuck, clearly address challenges, and offer practical guidance. At the same time, your values, decisions, questions, and feedback are always respected. We aim to partner with you and help you cultivate the love and life you desire, based on your values, goals, and the experiences and people that matter to you.

We Really Care

One of the unique benefits of working with a small boutique practice is the personal touch we are able to offer. While we are therapists, we are also spouses, mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends living in San Diego with our own relationships and families. We understand how painful relationship and family distress is, and are deeply committed to helping you. Just as we support our clients, we remain dedicated to our own relational and personal growth.

We Encourage Growth Outside of Therapy

We will invite you to lean in, practice new skills, and show up fully for your relationships and yourself. New skills and patterns are built through daily practice. In addition to therapy, we provide workshops, courses, and resources to help you strengthen your relationships and personal wellbeing between sessions and carry your progress into everyday life.
